  • E*TRADE (NASDAQ:EGRP) expands into the Korean market in a bid to become more globally based. The stock trading service seeks to recast itself as a financial destination rather than as a service. Trades are a commodity or soon will be. That's the danger of being a one-product or limited offering company. Softbank co-owns E*TRADE Japan and will also own part of E*TRADE Korea.

  • Egghead.com (NASDAQ:EGGS) climbs again as more believers start to believe the former land-lubbing software and hardware retail chain operator may actually be able to be 100% Web based after all. May 8 we said EGGS could be an $18 stock. It closes today at $17 per share. Click here for our analysis.

  • ONSALE (NASDAQ:ONSL), the Web-based auctioneer, reports more than six million bids have been placed on its site since it opened up shop in May 1995. Coincidentally, ONSALE is the comparable we mention in the Egghead report above, since Egghead operates an auction site also.
